Dele Momodu Praises President Tinubu for Halting Abuja Property Sealing

Dele Momodu, a well-known journalist and member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for intervening in the recent sealing of properties in Abuja over unpaid ground rents. The affected properties included notable offices such as the PDP national secretariat, Access Bank, TotalEnergies, and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), led by Minister Nyesom Wike, had commenced enforcement actions against property owners who allegedly defaulted on ground rent payments. However, following widespread public concern and backlash, President Tinubu ordered a suspension of the sealing exercise and granted a 14-day grace period for the affected parties to regularize their payments.

In response, Dele Momodu commended the President’s decisive move, describing it as a demonstration of strong and effective leadership. He criticized Minister Wike’s approach as heavy-handed and suggested it risked politicizing what should be impartial enforcement of regulations. Momodu also emphasized the importance of unity and clear authority within the administration to avoid conflicting actions.

The President’s intervention has been widely interpreted as a reinforcement of his leadership and a call for fair and balanced implementation of government policies in the FCT.
