Immigration Officer Turns Down ₦10 Million and Luxury Phone Bribe from Alleged Ritual Kingpin

An officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service, identified as Prince Orji Ugochukwu—who is known on Facebook by the name Okeosisi Ugo—has earned widespread commendation for upholding professional integrity after reportedly rejecting a hefty ₦10 million bribe alongside high-end smartphones offered by a suspected serial ritualist.

The suspect, who goes by the name Ezeani but is also infamously known as Ichie Billion, with a notable online presence under the alias “E dey play, E dey show,” allegedly made the offer in a desperate bid to evade apprehension. The incident, which has sparked public debate, is being praised as a bold demonstration of character and an example of ethical service in a climate where stories of compromised public officers are all too common.

According to emerging details, Ezeani, who is under suspicion for involvement in ritual-related activities, was reportedly attempting to flee when he crossed paths with the vigilant Immigration officer. In an attempt to secure a safe escape, the suspect allegedly offered a cash sum of ₦10 million and expensive mobile phones to induce the officer’s cooperation.

However, rather than succumbing to the financial temptation, Officer Ugochukwu stood firm and rejected the offer, a move that has since drawn applause across social media and civil society platforms. Many Nigerians are describing his action as a rare show of patriotism and moral discipline.

Security operatives are continuing their investigations into the suspect’s activities, while commendations pour in for the officer, who has come to symbolize hope for institutional integrity within Nigeria’s public service.

The case also reignites the conversation around the rising trend of online glorification of illicit wealth, with figures like “Ichie Billion” amassing large followings on social media platforms by showcasing lavish lifestyles with questionable sources of income.

As the matter develops, Nigerians are calling for national recognition for Officer Ugochukwu and urging security agencies to maintain the momentum in bringing suspects like Ezeani to justice.
