As part of efforts to support underprivileged Nigerians during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has donated 900 bags of 50kg rice and 10 cows to the Abuja National Mosque.
The donation, made through the Office of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, was distributed to vulnerable members of the Muslim community, including cleaners, security personnel, healthcare workers, and those regularly seeking assistance at the mosque.
The items were handed over to the mosque’s Distribution Committee, led by Professor Luqman Zakariyah, who confirmed that each of the six area councils in the Federal Capital Territory received 10 bags of rice. The cows were slaughtered and shared among beneficiaries on the eve of Sallah.
Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Ustaz Yunus Salawudeen, Public Relations Officer of the Abuja Muslims Forum, expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for the kind gesture. He noted that the donation would go a long way in easing the burden of many families during the festive period.
Another beneficiary, Cletus Muhammed Nwaneri, praised the president’s initiative, describing it as a step towards fostering peace and national unity.
The initiative aligns with President Tinubu’s broader commitment to social welfare and inclusion, particularly amid current economic challenges.
