CDCIFIB Warns Public Against Recruitment Scams, Reiterates Transparency in Hiring Process

Abuja, June 10, 2025 – The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has issued a public advisory to clarify the status of its recruitment process, following the circulation of misleading information on social media.

In an official statement signed by the Secretary to the Board, Maj. Gen. (Rtd.) AM Jibril, the CDCFIB confirmed that although there is Presidential approval for the recruitment of personnel into the four paramilitary services under its jurisdiction, the process is guided by a clearly defined and multi-phase procedure.

“It is important to inform the general public that though there is a Presidential approval for the recruitment of personnel… there are series of processes which lead to the actual recruitment exercise,” the statement read.

The Board emphasized that no recruitment is currently ongoing, and any genuine exercise will be formally announced via adverts in national dailies. All recruitment, it stressed, will be conducted in a fair and transparent manner, and free of any payment or fee.

The CDCFIB strongly cautioned job seekers to beware of fraudulent individuals and racketeers who exploit the desperation of unemployed citizens by posing as recruitment agents. These scammers often request payments in exchange for job slots, only to disappear after extorting their victims.

“To this effect, members of the public should be wary of the activities of recruitment racketeers who may want to take advantage of unsuspecting job seekers to rob them of their hard-earned resources,” Maj. Gen. Jibril warned.

The Board reiterated its commitment to due process and called on the public to rely only on official communication channels for verified updates regarding any future recruitment activities.

The CDCFIB oversees the recruitment and administrative processes for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), the Federal Fire Service (FFS), and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
