Federal Civil Service to Go Paperless by December 2025

The Federal Government has announced plans to fully transition the civil service to a paperless system by December 2025, in a bid to enhance efficiency, reduce bureaucracy, and promote environmentally friendly governance practices.

The move, driven by the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), aligns with ongoing reforms under the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP 2021–2025).

According to government officials, the digitisation initiative will involve the deployment of electronic document management systems across ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), training of staff in digital literacy, and investment in ICT infrastructure.

Stakeholders say the shift will significantly improve workflow, cut costs, ensure data integrity, and support the nation’s broader e-governance agenda.
