July 6, 2025 | Benin City, Nigeria

The All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders from the South-South region on Saturday, July 5, 2025, held a strategic meeting in Benin City, where they unanimously adopted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the serving APC governors from the region as their sole candidates for the 2027 general elections.

The meeting, which brought together party chieftains, elected officials, and delegates from the six South-South states, praised President Tinubu for what they described as impactful governance and visible infrastructure projects that are reshaping the region’s future.

In a communique issued at the end of the meeting, the stakeholders expressed deep appreciation for the President’s recent assent to the South-South Development Commission Act, which they say signals renewed attention to regional development.

They also commended the ongoing Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road project, describing it as a monumental infrastructure initiative that will unlock economic opportunities, enhance connectivity, and boost tourism across the coastal belt of the region.

The stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the APC’s presence in the South-South, while urging party members to remain united and focused ahead of the 2027 polls.

The resolution to back President Tinubu and APC governors from the region was reached unanimously, signaling a clear path of continuity and political solidarity within the party’s regional bloc.
