Sanwo-Olu, Wife Cast Votes in Lagos LG Elections at Ward 06, Lagos Island

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, alongside his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, participated in the ongoing local government elections on Saturday, casting their ballots at Ward 06, Okepopo East, Lagos Island.

The governor arrived at the polling unit early in the day, where he was received by electoral officials and a modest crowd of residents. After completing accreditation, Governor Sanwo-Olu and the First Lady exercised their civic responsibility, voting for their preferred chairmanship and councillorship candidates.

Speaking briefly after voting, the governor urged Lagosians to come out en masse to vote, emphasizing the importance of local government elections in driving grassroots development and ensuring service delivery at the community level.

“This election is not just about politics; it’s about development. The people we choose today will be responsible for addressing local issues, maintaining primary healthcare, sanitation, and other essential services. That’s why participation matters,” Sanwo-Olu said.

He commended the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for organizing the polls and called on residents to maintain peace throughout the process.

The local government election, which covers the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas in Lagos, is being closely monitored by observers, political stakeholders, and law enforcement agencies to ensure transparency and security.
