As the 2025 Local Government elections gradually come to an end across various parts of Lagos State, vote counting has officially commenced at Polling Unit 024, located in Ward B of the Makoko area, Yaba.
Electoral officers began the collation of results shortly after the close of voting, with party agents, security personnel, and observers present to monitor the process. The exercise has so far proceeded in an orderly manner, with residents looking on as officials tally the votes cast earlier in the day.
Makoko, a densely populated community in Lagos Mainland Local Government Area, witnessed a fair turnout of voters despite initial concerns about apathy in some locations. Observers reported that the voting process at Polling Unit 024 was largely peaceful, with no major incidents recorded.
Party agents from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and other participating political platforms have remained vigilant during the counting process to ensure transparency and fairness. The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) is expected to announce official results once collation is completed across all wards and local councils.
This exercise forms part of Lagos State’s broader effort to deepen democratic participation at the grassroots level, even as civil society organisations continue to call for reforms to strengthen local electoral processes.
