The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, has warmly received retired members of the Nigerian Air Force across several states, pledging ongoing improvements in their welfare. In a nationwide “CAS Parley” held simultaneously in locations like Lagos, Kaduna, Calabar, Port Harcourt, Bauchi, Bayelsa, and Abuja, the Air Force leader emphasized that veterans are “living embodiments of courage and commitment,” and assured they will “always count” in the service’s agenda

Air Marshal Abubakar highlighted concrete steps already in motion: acquisition of over 84 hectares at Kaduna Millennium City earmarked for affordable post-service housing, plus more land secured near Warri, Nuwalege, and by the Niger River to boost veteran support initiatives
He also reaffirmed the introduction of medical outreaches during these parlays—providing free health services and lectures on wellness, financial planning, and lifestyle management for veterans and their dependants
In Lagos, where the parley was presided over by AVM Ahmed Bakari on behalf of the CAS, veterans were encouraged to stay active, form social networks, and adhere to prescribed treatments, to maintain both physical and mental health in retirement
Abubakar further stated that many ex-airmen possess valuable technical know-how. He announced plans to re-engage skilled veterans in ongoing national security efforts, with applications currently open
During these heartfelt gatherings, veterans shared memories of past operations, honoured fallen comrades, and voiced their concerns over healthcare, pensions, and future planning. Retired personnel in Bayelsa and Kano expressed gratitude, saying they finally feel “seen” and appreciated by their once-service family
Air Marshal Abubakar underscored that this parley is not a one-off gesture but part of a broader, long-term reform aimed at institutionalizing veteran care—strengthening the bond between serving and retired personnel, fostering national cohesion, and reflecting gratitude for decades of sacrifice
In his closing remarks, the Air Chief reiterated that the Nigerian Air Force remains a single, united family: “This is your home, your voice will always count,” he said—signalling a renewed era of respect, engagement, and welfare for those who have served.
