The Federal Government is set to commence the rollout of its ambitious housing initiative under the Renewed Hope Agenda, with plans to construct Renewed Hope Cities in four geo-political zones and Renewed Hope Estates across 24 states of the federation.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, during a media briefing in Abuja. He revealed that the project aims to address the country’s growing housing deficit by providing affordable and accessible homes for Nigerians across various income levels.
According to the minister, the Renewed Hope Cities will be sited in each of the selected zones to serve as modern urban developments featuring comprehensive infrastructure, integrated communities, and sustainable living environments. Each city will consist of at least 1,000 housing units, complete with roads, power, water, and social amenities.
In addition to the zonal cities, the government has finalized arrangements for the construction of Renewed Hope Estates in 24 states, with each estate comprising a minimum of 500 housing units. These estates are designed to be inclusive, accommodating various categories of Nigerians, including low and middle-income earners.
Dangiwa stated that the initiative is being executed through a Public-Private Partnership model, with financing from the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), the Family Homes Fund, and selected developers. He added that the government is committed to ensuring quality control, timely delivery, and affordability of the housing units through rigorous monitoring and effective stakeholder collaboration.
He emphasized that the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates are not just about providing houses, but also about creating jobs, boosting local economies, and promoting social stability through homeownership.
The project rollout is expected to begin in August 2025, with groundbreaking ceremonies planned in each of the participating states and zones.
