The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Chukwuma Okeke, has urged Nigerian youth to take urgent and proactive steps towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) during a crucial dialogue held at the United Nations House in Abuja.
Addressing a gathering of young leaders, representatives from civil society, and development partners, Minister Okeke emphasized the indispensable role of young people in driving national development. He highlighted key SDG targets including poverty alleviation, quality education, gender equality, and climate action as areas where youth involvement is critical.
Okeke encouraged the youth to leverage technology, foster partnerships, and champion innovative solutions that can address Nigeria’s socio-economic challenges. He also outlined government initiatives designed to empower young Nigerians through skills training, entrepreneurship opportunities, and inclusive policies.
The dialogue served as a platform for open discussion on the barriers and opportunities in youth participation towards the SDG agenda. Participants pledged renewed commitment to collective action, recognizing youth as central agents in Nigeria’s journey towards sustainable development by 2030.
