President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Hon. Chisom D. Obih to the Governing Council of the Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, following the death of a serving member of the council.
In a related move, the President appointed Professor Ralph Akinfeleye, a veteran communications scholar and former Head of Mass Communication at the University of Lagos, to the Governing Council of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State. He replaces Wahab Owokoniran, who recently assumed office as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Federal University of Transport, Daura, Katsina State.
The appointments were announced on Tuesday in a press statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. The statement emphasised the administration’s commitment to strengthening leadership in Nigeria’s higher education sector.
