Lagos Expands Legal Service Access as Chief Judge Swears In 50 New Notaries Public

Lagos, Nigeria — August 15, 2025 | The Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Alogba, has formally commissioned 50 newly appointed Notaries Public, urging them to uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and transparency in the execution of their duties.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony held at the Lagos State Judiciary headquarters, Justice Alogba emphasised that the role of a Notary Public is a serious public trust, not a privilege for personal enrichment. He charged the appointees to ensure diligence in authenticating documents, administering oaths, and safeguarding legal transactions against fraud.

He further reminded them that their work directly impacts public confidence in official documentation and the overall integrity of the legal system.

The appointees, drawn from diverse areas of legal practice, pledged to discharge their duties with honesty and impartiality.

With the addition of this latest cohort, Lagos State has expanded its pool of certified notaries, a move aimed at improving public access to legal services and strengthening the credibility of official records across the state.
