August 18, 2025 — Nigeria’s Minister of Defence has charged graduates of the National Defence College (NDC) Course 33 to uphold integrity, accountability, and service-driven leadership as they assume greater responsibilities in the nation’s security and governance framework.
Delivering his address on Monday at the NDC Auditorium in Abuja during the Graduation Lecture, the minister emphasized that transparency and discipline are vital for strengthening Nigeria’s defence sector. He noted that under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, leadership reforms are being tailored to foster accountability and effective service delivery across security institutions.
The occasion featured Ghana’s former President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who served as Guest Speaker. He praised the NDC’s contribution to nurturing strategic leaders for Africa, stressing that both military and civilian leaders must embrace ethical governance and regional cooperation to confront shared security challenges.
The minister congratulated the Course 33 participants, urging them to apply their newly acquired knowledge to bolster Nigeria’s defence capacity while championing peace and stability. He further reminded them of the need to lead by example, especially as the country continues to face terrorism, organized crime, and other evolving global threats.
The ceremony attracted high-ranking dignitaries from the military, government institutions, and the diplomatic community, reaffirming the NDC’s reputation as West Africa’s foremost center for strategic leadership and national security training.
