The Chief Imam of Yaba College of Technology, Imam Sa’ed Salman, has called on Nigerian parents to prioritize the positive upbringing of their children as a sustainable solution to terrorism, banditry, and other social vices threatening the nation.
Speaking at the 2nd Zonal Conference and 2025 Recognition of Excellence and Award Presentation of the Nasrul-Lahi-l-Fatih Society of Nigeria (NASFAT), Lagos Zone 2, held at the society’s Iyana-Ipaja branch, the cleric stressed that the fight against insecurity must begin from the home.

Imam Salman, who delivered the keynote lecture on the theme “Faith in Action: Navigating Islamic Values in Modern Society,” noted that faith starts within the family. According to him, parents who instill discipline, moral values, and the fear of God in their children raise a generation less susceptible to extremist ideologies and criminal tendencies.
“If we must defeat terrorism and banditry, then we must first strengthen the home. A child that is nurtured with faith, discipline, and Islamic values is less likely to be recruited into crime or violence,” Imam Salam stated.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the occasion, Hon. Dr. Oluwasegun Mukhtar Musa, Chairman/CEO of Wide Scope International Logistics Limited, represented by Alhaji Talhat Musa, emphasized the importance of lifelong learning and striving for excellence. He urged Muslims to settle for the best in every endeavor, while encouraging parents to raise children who can contribute meaningfully to national development.

Dr. Musa further supported NASFAT’s mission with a generous donation, aimed at strengthening the society’s community-building initiatives.
In their separate remarks, the Chairman of NASFAT Lagos Zone 2, Engr. Abdulganiyy Jumah, and the Zonal Women Affairs Secretary, Alhaja Aishat Mosunmola Busari, expressed gratitude to Allah for the success of the event. They congratulated award recipients and advised participants to maximize the knowledge gained during the three-day conference for personal growth and the benefit of the wider Muslim community.
The conference, which held from August 22 to 24, featured award presentations to distinguished individuals who have made notable contributions to the promotion of Islamic values and the growth of the society.
The event drew members and dignitaries from across Lagos State and ended with renewed calls for Muslims to live out their faith as a guiding principle for personal conduct, family life, and national progress.
