NNPC Reports Near-100% Pipeline Receipts After Security Collaboration

Abuja, Nigeria — August 26, 2025

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) says crude-oil pipeline and terminal receipts are now “close to 100 percent” following intensified collaboration with security and intelligence agencies.

Group Chief Executive Officer Bayo Ojulari disclosed this on Monday in Abuja at the opening of the maiden African Chiefs of Defence Staff Summit. He explained that about three years ago, receipts from crude pipelines had dropped to as low as 20 to 30 percent due to theft and vandalism, but have since rebounded through sustained partnerships between the oil industry and security institutions.

Independent industry data, however, indicates that Nigeria’s crude production currently averages 1.5–1.8 million barrels per day, still below the country’s installed capacity. Analysts note that “near-100 percent receipts” refers to oil successfully delivered through pipelines and export terminals, not full restoration of national production capacity.

NNPC has not released audited figures to substantiate the near-100 percent claim, but the announcement reflects ongoing efforts by the government and security agencies to curb losses in the sector.
