The Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy has announced that three distinguished Nigerian designers will proudly represent the nation at this year’s Saudi International Handicrafts Week—popularly known as Banan—set to take place in Riyadh this November. As the event draws near, their participation signals a powerful affirmation of Nigeria’s rich creative heritage on a global stage.

Banan, organised under the auspices of the Saudi Heritage Commission, is a highly anticipated cultural showcase that brings together over 500 artisans from Saudi Arabia alongside artists from more than 25 countries, all converging at the Roshn Front in Riyadh. The weeklong event, running from November 23 to 29, features immersive attractions such as a Handicrafts Arts Village, live craft demonstrations, interactive workshops, and thematic zones—including a dedicated children’s pavilion—designed to engage and educate visitors from all walks of life

By sending three Nigerian designers to Banan, the Federal Ministry underscores its commitment to elevating the country’s creative economy—encouraging intercultural dialogue, generating visibility for homegrown talent, and affirming Nigeria’s standing in the global arts and crafts community.
