The Jigawa State Police Command has issued a travel advisory warning motorists of imminent danger on the Gwaram–Basirka road, where the Bagadaza bridge along the Darazau route has been weakened by persistent rainfall.
The alert, released Thursday night on the command’s official social media platforms, was signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam. He cautioned that recent downpours had significantly compromised the bridge’s structure, increasing the risk of collapse.
“Travellers should be patient and cooperative when asked to halt by our officers, as this will help safeguard their wellbeing given the current state of the road,” Adam stated.
The police urged all road users to exercise extreme caution when approaching the area. No alternative route has yet been announced, but authorities say monitoring and safety measures will continue until the situation improves.
