NIMC Staff Laud DG Abisoye Coker-Odusote for Pioneering Unprecedented Capacity Building and Staff Welfare Initiatives

There is growing appreciation and commendation across the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) as staff nationwide have expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer, Engr. (Dr.) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, for her exceptional commitment to staff development and welfare.

For many within the commission, this marks an unprecedented chapter in the agency’s history. Under Dr. Coker-Odusote’s leadership, NIMC has witnessed a renewed focus on capacity building, staff training, and empowerment initiatives that are now redefining workplace culture and productivity across the board.

Staff from various departments and state offices have praised the DG for her inclusive approach to human capital development, which they say has inspired renewed motivation and strengthened their ability to deliver effectively on national assignments. Several employees noted that for the first time, training opportunities are being made accessible across all cadres, including junior and mid-level officers who were often overlooked in previous years.

This wave of transformation is in alignment with the broader objectives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which places high priority on institutional reform, digital governance, and service delivery. By building a more capable and motivated workforce, the DG is not only enhancing internal efficiency but also improving public confidence in the commission’s core responsibilities—particularly in national identity registration and data management.

In addition to training programmes, staff have also acknowledged improvements in welfare conditions, including better workplace tools, enhanced communication systems, and a more inclusive leadership style that encourages feedback and collaboration.

“This is the first time we are experiencing this level of genuine interest in our development. The DG is not just talking about reform—she’s implementing it from within,” one senior staff member noted during a recent internal forum.

Engr. (Dr.) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, who assumed office with a clear vision for institutional transformation, continues to receive accolades for her results-driven leadership. Her efforts are being recognised not only within NIMC but also across government circles as a model for public sector excellence.

As Nigeria moves forward with key national data initiatives, staff say they are now better equipped, more informed, and fully committed to supporting the DG’s vision and contributing meaningfully to the national development agenda.
