Maryamu Idris has been officially appointed as Nigeria’s National Representative to the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). She will continue her role as Managing Director of NNPC Trading Limited while representing Nigeria on OPEC’s Economic Commission Board (ECB). In this capacity, Idris will contribute to technical deliberations, policy recommendations, and coordination with national stakeholders, including the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), and the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.
Idris holds a B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Abuja and an M.Sc. in Energy Economics from the University of Dundee. With over 20 years of experience in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, she has served in various capacities at the Bureau of Public Enterprises, the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, and NNPC Trading Limited.
NNPCL formally congratulated Idris on her appointment, confirming her new role as Nigeria’s representative to OPEC.
