Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has been ruled out of the club’s UEFA Champions League opener against Eintracht Frankfurt following an injury sustained on international duty with Nigeria.
The 26-year-old forward was forced off in the first half of Nigeria’s World Cup qualifier against Rwanda on September 6 after a heavy challenge, and has since been undergoing recovery with his club. Medical assessments have yet to provide a clear timeline for his return.
Speaking ahead of the fixture, Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk confirmed that Osimhen had not resumed full training and was unavailable for selection. “The latest reports from the medical team indicate he is still not ready,” Buruk said.
Osimhen’s absence is considered a significant setback for the Turkish champions, who had hoped the Nigerian international would recover in time to boost their attacking options in the European competition.
