AAM2025 Day 3: Leaders Chart Path for Africa’s Inclusive Growth and Industrial Transformation

Abuja, Nigeria – June 28, 2025

The third day of the 2025 Afreximbank Annual Meetings (#AAM2025) concluded with a high-level convergence of African leaders, business moguls, and global economists who articulated bold visions for the continent’s economic renaissance.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to deepening regional integration, strengthening industrial infrastructure, and championing sustainable economic growth across the continent. He emphasized the role of multilateral collaboration in addressing developmental bottlenecks and unlocking Africa’s potential.

Also speaking at the summit, renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist, Tony Elumelu, urged greater investment in Africa’s youth and entrepreneurs, describing them as the “true catalysts of inclusive prosperity.” He called on stakeholders to prioritize capacity-building, innovation, and entrepreneurial support systems that can generate long-term impact.

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, echoed the call for enabling environments, urging African governments to implement stable policy frameworks, attract local investments, and improve power supply to scale private sector growth. “Without energy security and predictable regulation, industrial growth will remain a distant dream,” Dangote warned.

Globally acclaimed economist, Professor Jeffrey Sachs, described Africa as the “next engine of global economic growth,” provided the continent ramps up investment in education, infrastructure, and industrialization. Sachs stressed that global institutions and private financiers must recognize the continent’s demographic and developmental potential.

The day’s engagements marked the conclusion of a landmark week of visionary dialogue aimed at shaping the continent’s economic direction, with leaders from government, business, and civil society setting actionable priorities for transforming Africa’s future.
