The government of Abia State has forged a strategic partnership with ipNX, one of Nigeria’s leading information and communications technology (ICT) companies, to bolster digital connectivity and accelerate the state’s burgeoning digital economy. This collaboration aims to position Abia as a hub for technological innovation and economic development.
The partnership, announced on Thursday, represents a pivotal move in the state government’s efforts to create a more integrated, technologically advanced infrastructure. The agreement was formalized during a visit by ipNX’s leadership team to the Abia State Government House, where both parties outlined their shared vision for developing state-of-the-art ICT systems.
Under the terms of the agreement, ipNX will provide high-speed broadband and cutting-edge ICT solutions to connect government agencies, businesses, and residents across Abia. The initiative is designed to drive innovation, enhance public service delivery, and support the state’s transition toward a technology-driven economy.
Speaking on behalf of the Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Kenneth Kalu, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership’s potential benefits. He stated, “This collaboration with ipNX is a transformative step in our commitment to digitizing Abia’s civil service and establishing an ICT ecosystem that will catalyze economic growth and improve governance.”
Prof. Kalu highlighted the state’s broader goals to implement world-class connectivity infrastructure, which will foster improved e-governance, increase access to critical information, and provide residents with better opportunities for innovation and development.
The Group Executive Director, Commercials of ipNX, Mrs. Bimpe Olaleye, speaking on behalf of the Group Managing Director, Ejovi Aror, outlined ipNX’s commitment to designing and deploying advanced telecommunications infrastructure across the state. She remarked, “Our goal is to establish a seamless telecommunications system across Abia’s ministries, departments, and agencies. This system will ensure reliable communications, facilitate efficient service delivery, and empower Abia to thrive in the digital age.”
Mrs. Olaleye further emphasized that the project aligns with Abia’s broader strategy to create pervasive connectivity, encourage technological advancements, and foster socio-economic development. She noted that ipNX’s expertise in building robust ICT infrastructure would play a crucial role in realizing these objectives.
To safeguard this ambitious initiative, the project will incorporate measures to ensure uninterrupted service and enhanced security for critical telecommunications assets. The infrastructure will serve as a backbone for Abia’s digital transformation, enabling the state to fully participate in the global digital economy and deliver more responsive governance.
This partnership symbolizes Abia’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and laying the foundation for sustained economic growth, innovation, and development in the years to come.
