ACG Orbih Applauds Seme Customs Command for Infrastructural Strides and Operational Strategy

Seme Border, Lagos – July 4, 2025

Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG) of Customs in charge of Zone A, ACG Mohammed Babandede Orbih, has commended the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Seme Area Command for its notable infrastructure achievements and strategic efforts to enhance border security and trade facilitation.

ACG Orbih gave the commendation during an official visit to the Seme Command as part of his routine inspection tour across commands in the zone. He lauded the leadership of the Command for its dedication to improving the operational environment and boosting customs efficiency.

While inspecting the facilities, ACG Orbih expressed satisfaction with ongoing infrastructure upgrades at the command, including improvements to the scanning facilities, administrative blocks, and inspection terminals. He noted that such efforts reflect the commitment of the command to align with international best practices.

“I must commend the Seme Command for its infrastructural advancement and strategic deployment of resources. These improvements will go a long way in enhancing border security, trade facilitation, and officers’ welfare,” he stated.

The ACG also emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration, intelligence-driven operations, and adherence to the Customs and Excise Management Act (CEMA) to curb smuggling and other cross-border crimes.

In his remarks, the Customs Area Controller of the Seme Command, Comptroller Timi Bomodi, thanked the ACG for the visit and reiterated the Command’s readiness to continue prioritising national interest through professionalism and strategic enforcement.

“We remain committed to promoting lawful trade while securing the nation’s borders against economic sabotage. The support and encouragement from headquarters further motivate our officers to deliver optimally,” Bomodi said.

The visit concluded with an interactive session where officers raised issues and shared feedback on operational challenges and future expectations.
