The Adamawa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced a revenue generation of N195 million in the first quarter of 2025. This figure reflects the Command’s efforts to boost internally generated revenue through enhanced enforcement activities and compliance with trade regulations.
The Area Comptroller of Adamawa Customs attributed this achievement to the dedication of officers and the adoption of modern operational strategies aimed at curbing smuggling and ensuring proper duty collection. The Command has also intensified border patrols and deployed advanced technology to monitor trade activities, particularly along key border points.
This development aligns with the broader goals of the Nigeria Customs Service, which has set an ambitious revenue target of N6.58 trillion for 2025 under the leadership of Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi. The NCS continues to play a critical role in supporting Nigeria’s economy by contributing significantly to the nation’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
Despite these gains, challenges such as smuggling and fluctuating trade volumes remain pressing issues for Customs operations across the country. Nonetheless, the Adamawa Area Command’s performance underscores the potential for regional commands to contribute meaningfully to national revenue targets while enhancing trade facilitation and security.
