Aero Contractors And NSIB Sign MoU to Enhance Aviation Safety

Aero Contractors Airline and the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) have formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in industry-led safety training, knowledge sharing, and human capital development, further reinforcing aviation safety in Nigeria.

Both organizations emphasized that this initiative reaffirms Nigeria’s commitment to maintaining global aviation safety standards.

The agreement, signed at Aero Contractors’ office at Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, in the presence of key industry stakeholders, establishes a structured framework for training programs, technical cooperation, and resource sharing between NSIB and the airline.

Additionally, the MoU facilitates joint conferences, symposiums, and workshops to exchange best practices, explore emerging aviation trends, and enhance workforce capacity by utilizing the expertise of both organizations, including pilots, engineers, dispatchers, and flight attendants.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Aero Contractors’ Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Capt. Ado Sanusi, emphasized the significance of this partnership, highlighting its role in promoting safety—an essential pillar of the aviation industry.

“Safety is not just a regulatory requirement; it is the foundation of our industry. With over 60 years of experience in aviation, Aero Contractors has ingrained a strong safety culture, and we firmly believe that safety is everyone’s responsibility. This MoU underscores our dedication to ensuring a safe Nigerian airspace by sharing our expertise, experience, and technical knowledge with NSIB,” Sanusi stated.

He further stressed the importance of on-the-job training in fostering continuous learning and professional development for NSIB personnel.

“Through this partnership, we aim to equip NSIB’s Transportation Safety Officers with practical skills and knowledge essential for their roles. They will have access to Aero’s state-of-the-art facilities, simulators, and technical resources.

“This collaboration sets a benchmark for how regulatory bodies and industry players should work together to enhance safety. Aviation is a highly dynamic sector, and training must evolve to keep pace with technological advancements and global best practices. NSIB and Aero Contractors are establishing a model that should be replicated across other sectors of the transportation industry,” he added.

NSIB Director-General, Capt. Alex Badeh, reiterated that the partnership will provide NSIB’s Transportation Safety Officers and technical personnel with specialized on-the-job training using Aero Contractors’ cutting-edge facilities, including simulators and maintenance workshops. Additionally, Aero’s technical personnel will benefit from NSIB-led training in accident investigation and related disciplines, fostering a knowledge exchange.

He remarked, “Today’s MoU is more than just a document; it represents a commitment to mutual growth and enhanced safety. Through this agreement, we will collaborate to develop and implement tailored on-the-job training programs for our Transportation Safety Officers and other personnel.

“This initiative will provide our team with the skills, knowledge, and practical experience necessary to excel in their roles, leveraging Aero’s state-of-the-art facilities, simulators, and technical expertise,” Badeh concluded.
