AFCON Glory, World Cup Ticket Top Eagles’ Agenda – Troost-Ekong

Captain of the Super Eagles, William Troost-Ekong, has declared that the team is entirely focused on winning the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, stressing that the squad is united in its ambition to restore Nigeria’s dominance in African and global football.

Speaking with confidence ahead of upcoming international fixtures, the experienced centre-back assured fans that the team is determined to go all out for continental glory while keeping their eyes firmly on the global stage.

“Our goal is clear — to win the 2025 AFCON and make sure we’re at the 2026 World Cup. That’s our mindset. Every player is giving their all for the badge and the nation,” Troost-Ekong stated.

The Super Eagles narrowly missed out on the AFCON title earlier this year and have since intensified preparations under technical supervision, with improved tactical discipline and a stronger team spirit.

According to Troost-Ekong, the team is building momentum and correcting past mistakes. “We’ve learned a lot from recent tournaments. Now it’s about consistency, staying focused, and working harder,” he said.

He also urged Nigerians to continue supporting the national team, promising that their passion and commitment will be rewarded with results on the pitch. “The fans are everything to us. Their support drives us. We’re ready to make them proud again,” the captain concluded.

Nigeria last lifted the AFCON trophy in 2013 and will be aiming for a fourth continental crown when the tournament kicks off in Morocco next year, alongside a return to the global stage after missing out on the 2022 World Cup.
