Afriland Towers Fire: Lagos Government Sympathises with Victims’ Families as Sanwo-Olu Orders Investigation

The Lagos State Government has commiserated with families affected by the fire outbreak at Afriland Towers, pledging full support for victims while ordering a thorough investigation into the incident.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued on Friday, described the fire as a tragic occurrence and assured residents that the state will leave no stone unturned in uncovering the cause of the inferno. He directed relevant agencies, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, to work closely with safety experts in conducting a detailed probe to prevent future recurrence.

The governor also praised emergency responders for their swift intervention, which helped to contain the blaze and minimize casualties. He stressed that safety in high-rise and commercial buildings remains a priority for his administration, warning property managers and business owners to adhere strictly to fire safety regulations.

Meanwhile, the state government has promised to provide relief and necessary assistance to families and businesses affected by the incident, reaffirming its commitment to the welfare and safety of Lagos residents.

The Afriland Towers fire, which broke out earlier in the week, has reignited concerns over compliance with safety standards in commercial properties across the state.
