Air Peace Proves Readiness on Lagos–São Paulo Route as Tinubu Seals Historic Brazil Aviation Deal

Abuja, August 27, 2025 — Nigeria’s flagship carrier, Air Peace, has showcased its operational strength by flying a direct service from São Paulo to Lagos, just 24 hours after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secured a landmark bilateral aviation agreement with Brazil.

The Boeing 777 wide-body aircraft, carrying members of Nigeria’s official delegation and private-sector leaders, departed São Paulo on Tuesday and is currently en route to Lagos. The demonstration flight is seen as proof of Air Peace’s capability to operate long-haul intercontinental routes, boosting Nigeria’s profile in global aviation.

The direct Lagos–São Paulo connection follows the signing of a historic air services agreement between Nigeria and Brazil, which President Tinubu described as a turning point in expanding trade, tourism, and cultural ties between both nations.

“This is not just about aviation; it is about connecting markets, connecting people, and creating opportunities,” Tinubu said during the agreement signing. “Brazil is home to one of the largest populations of African descent outside Africa, and this partnership opens new doors for commerce and cultural exchange.”

Industry observers note that the agreement will provide fresh opportunities for Nigerian airlines to access South America’s largest economy while giving Brazilian businesses easier access to West Africa. For Air Peace, the move reinforces its ambition to dominate Africa’s long-haul market and position Nigeria as a hub for intercontinental air travel.

Stakeholders believe the agreement, coupled with Air Peace’s readiness, will deepen economic ties and accelerate trade, particularly as both countries seek to diversify beyond traditional sectors.
