Akure, July 8, 2025 — Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has formally invited collaboration with the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) to expand mechanised farming, improve land access, and enhance food security across the state.
The governor made this announcement during a courtesy visit by NALDA’s State Coordinator, Chief Olusola Ayandokun, at the Governor’s Office in Akure . He noted that high costs associated with land clearing are a major obstacle for youth agripreneurs and small-scale farmers. Since land preparation falls under NALDA’s mandate, partnering with the agency would help eliminate this barrier .
Aiyedatiwa referenced successful NALDA projects in other states, observing that Ondo already has farm settlements that could be revitalised under a renewed joint approach. He added that such a partnership would not only unlock farmland but also pave the way for expanding goat and rabbit husbandry—areas where Ondo has natural comparative advantages .
Chief Ayandokun assured the governor that NALDA is committed to supporting land clearing, integrated farm estates, agricultural inputs, youth and women empowerment, and value chain interventions . He noted that plots have already been allocated for pilot schemes in farm settlements like Ile-Oluji, with training modules ready for farmers.
