Anambra CP Deploys Officers and Emphasizes Professionalism Ahead of Saturday’s Political Primaries

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has deployed security personnel across the state in preparation for the political party primaries scheduled for Saturday, April 5. Addressing the Command’s strategy officers on Friday, Orutugu underscored the importance of professionalism as political activities intensify in the state.

The CP explained that the officers’ deployment was specifically aimed at ensuring the smooth conduct of the primaries, during which political parties will select their gubernatorial candidates. He reminded the officers to remain apolitical, neutral, and professional, emphasizing that their role is to provide security while maintaining order throughout the electoral process.

“The officers deployed are expected to offer security services in a manner that reflects professionalism and impartiality,” Orutugu stated. He also urged political parties and their candidates to adhere to the rules and guidelines of the electoral process, ensuring that the primaries are peaceful, transparent, and credible.

To enhance security and maintain peace, Orutugu revealed that security personnel had been strategically positioned at key locations across the state. He mentioned that engagement with stakeholders was ongoing to prevent any form of conflict and ensure a conducive environment for the primaries. This proactive approach is designed to foster public confidence and ensure a smooth and orderly voting process.

“The security teams will be conducting regular patrols, surveillance, and traffic control operations, working closely with other security agencies to ensure that the elections are peaceful,” he said.

The CP further called on residents of the state to remain orderly and cooperate with security officers throughout the primaries. He reminded the public that, should they require any security assistance, they can reach out to the Command’s Control Room at 07039194332 or the Public Relations Officer at 08039334002.

CP Orutugu reiterated the Command’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that all individuals, including politicians and their supporters, respect the democratic process and abide by the law. The security measures are part of efforts to maintain a peaceful atmosphere as the state prepares for the primaries and subsequent elections.
