Apapa Customs Command Generates ₦3.7 Trillion in 15 Months, Seizes Major Contraband

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Area Command, has reported significant achievements in revenue generation and contraband seizures under the leadership of Comptroller Babatunde Olomu.

According to official records, the command generated ₦3.7 trillion between May 2024 and July 2025. Monthly revenue collections included ₦175.1 billion in May 2024, ₦178.2 billion in June, ₦201.8 billion in July, and ₦252.5 billion in December 2024, among other monthly totals.

In addition to revenue achievements, the command seized 75 different types of contraband over the same period. Confiscated items included firearms, ammunition, expired pharmaceuticals, fake drugs, banned substances such as codeine and tramadol, used clothing, expired margarine, codeine syrup, wild animal skins, and stolen vehicles.

The performance of the Apapa Command under Olomu’s leadership highlights its critical role in enhancing government revenue and curbing illegal trade at Nigeria’s busiest port.

Comptroller Olomu, who has since been promoted to Assistant Comptroller General of Customs, was commended for his contributions to the NCS’s operational efficiency and enforcement effectiveness.
