APC Shuts National Secretariat to Mourn Former President Buhari

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has ordered the temporary closure of its National Secretariat in Abuja in honour of late former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in London.

This directive was contained in an official statement released by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka. According to the release, the Acting National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bukar Dalori, directed that the Secretariat be closed from Monday through Wednesday, with normal activities scheduled to resume on Thursday, July 17, 2025.

The party described the decision as a mark of deep respect for the legacy of the late Nigerian leader, who served as President from 2015 to 2023 and was a founding figure in the APC’s emergence as a ruling political force. The statement urged party members across the country to observe the mourning period in solemn reflection and offer prayers for the peaceful repose of Buhari’s soul.

“Our party mourns the loss of a true statesman and a pillar of integrity. We encourage all faithful to reflect quietly on his life of service and continue to uphold the values he stood for,” the statement read.

The APC also extended its condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Buhari family, and the entire nation, describing the former President’s passing as an irreplaceable loss to Nigeria and the progressive movement. The period of national mourning continues across various institutions and political structures, with tributes pouring in from all quarters in honour of the late elder statesman.
