President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would warmly welcome the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, if he ever decides to join the ruling party.
Speaking at the commissioning of a newly rehabilitated road in Abuja, the President commended Wike for his dedication to infrastructural development and his commitment to public service, irrespective of political affiliation.
“Wike is working, and I commend him. Politics is about service to the people, and he has shown that. The day he decides to join the APC, we will welcome him,” President Tinubu said, drawing applause from the audience.
Wike, a chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has long been associated with bipartisan cooperation, particularly following his appointment as FCT Minister under the Tinubu-led administration.
Observers see the President’s remark as a significant signal in the ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The event was attended by top government officials, party stalwarts, and community leaders, who lauded the infrastructural strides made in the FCT under Wike’s supervision.
