Asagba of Asaba Meets Tinubu, Seeks Collaboration on Development Projects

In a recent meeting, the Asagba of Asaba, Epiphany Azinge, met with President Bola Tinubu to discuss potential collaboration on development projects in Delta State. Azinge, who led a delegation to the State House in Abuja, expressed his appreciation for the president’s commitment to national development.

During the meeting, Azinge highlighted the need for greater federal presence in Asaba, particularly in the areas of education and infrastructure. He emphasized that Asaba remains the only state capital in Nigeria without a federal university, and appealed for the establishment of a federal institution in the locality.

The monarch also commended the president for various federal initiatives already making a difference in Delta State. He specifically mentioned the construction of the access road to the Niger Bridge and the routing of a gas pipeline through Asaba and Awka.

Azinge expressed optimism about the administration’s commitment to national development, despite the challenges of governing a diverse country like Nigeria. He praised the president’s efforts, saying, “There might be some hiccups, but on the whole, we score him highly in that regard, and we pray for him.”

The traditional ruler described the meeting as a thank-you and solidarity visit, recalling that a delegation led by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, had represented the President at the burial of his predecessor, the 13th Asagba of Asaba.

Azinge also took the opportunity to acknowledge the president’s gesture in sending a delegation to the burial of his predecessor, which he described as a wonderful show of respect and solidarity.

In a similar vein, the late Asagba of Asaba was remembered for his peaceful and loving leadership, which brought peace to the kingdom during his 34-year reign . The current monarch’s efforts to build on this legacy by seeking collaboration with the federal government on development projects are a testament to his commitment to the well-being of his people.
