Atalanta Set to Sell Lookman to Liverpool in Summer Transfer Move

Ademola Lookman could be on the verge of making a sensational return to the Premier League, with reports suggesting that Atalanta are preparing to sell the Nigerian international to Liverpool this summer.

Lookman has been a key figure in Atalanta’s successful UEFA Europa League campaign, playing a pivotal role in their progress, and his impressive performances have seen him rank 14th in the 2024 Ballon d’Or standings. The 26-year-old winger has become one of the most valuable players at the Italian club, and his stellar form has attracted the attention of top clubs across Europe, with Liverpool now reportedly leading the race for his signature.

Having previously played in the Premier League with Everton, Fulham, and Leicester City, Lookman has rejuvenated his career in Serie A with Atalanta. His return to form in Bergamo has not gone unnoticed, and it appears that Atalanta are ready to cash in on their prized asset, especially with the summer transfer window fast approaching.

According to Italian publication Il Giorno, Atalanta’s new Director of Global Development, John Murtough, who previously worked at Manchester United, has been tasked with maximizing revenue from the sale of key players, including Lookman and Brazilian midfielder Ederson. While Manchester City and Manchester United are reportedly interested in Ederson, Lookman is seen by Liverpool as a potential high-impact addition to their squad, particularly given the uncertainty surrounding their attacking options under their incoming new manager.

Atalanta have previously made lucrative transfers to English clubs, including the sales of Amad Diallo and Rasmus Højlund to Manchester United, Cristian Romero to Tottenham Hotspur, and Timothy Castagne and Caleb Okoli to Leicester City. With Lookman’s stock at an all-time high, it is expected that the Italian club will look to strike a profitable deal for the Nigerian winger.

Should the transfer materialize, Lookman would join a select group of Nigerian players who have featured for Liverpool, including Victor Moses, and could bring added flair and goal-scoring potential to Anfield. His return to the Premier League would mark a significant step in his career, and Liverpool fans will be eagerly awaiting the possibility of seeing the talented winger back in action on English soil.
