Attack on LASPA Staff: Lagos Government Arrests Seven Suspects for Prosecution

Lagos, Nigeria | August 10, 2025

The Lagos State Government has confirmed the arrest of seven individuals in connection with a violent attack on officials of the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) while on duty.

According to official reports, the incident occurred when LASPA personnel were carrying out their lawful responsibilities in managing and regulating parking spaces within the state. The assailants allegedly disrupted the operation, inflicting injuries on some staff members and damaging official equipment.

The suspects, apprehended through swift intervention by law enforcement officers, are currently in custody and will be charged in court. The Lagos State Government reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on acts of violence against public officials, warning that perpetrators will face the full weight of the law.

Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, condemned the attack, stressing that such actions undermine government efforts to ensure orderliness and effective urban management. He assured that adequate security measures are being reinforced to protect government workers discharging their duties.

Authorities further urged residents to channel grievances through lawful means, noting that the LASPA’s mandate remains crucial to decongesting roads and improving traffic flow in the metropolis.
