Addis Ababa, Ethiopia | June 12, 2025 – The African Union Commission has extended its condolences to the Government and people of India following the tragic crash of Air India Flight 171, which claimed at least 204 lives.
In a statement released by the Information & Communication Directorate, the AU expressed profound sorrow for the devastating loss, also acknowledging the grief of other nations affected. Chairperson H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, speaking on behalf of the AU and the peoples of Africa, offered heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families and all impacted.
The AU emphasized solidarity with India during this period of national mourning and reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bonds of friendship and support.
