Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has approved the release of N872 million as counterpart funding to strengthen primary healthcare services across the state. This allocation, announced on April 15, 2025, supplements broader investments in healthcare infrastructure, including a N7 billion initiative to revitalize 118 Primary Health Care Centers (PHCs) through the World Bank-backed IMPACT Project.
The funding aligns with the state’s 2025 budget, which earmarked N70.23 billion (15.08% of the total budget) for health sector improvements, focusing on maternal care, immunization, and malnutrition reduction. Specific projects include N7.5 billion for PHC renovations, with N5 billion allocated to upgrade facilities and N2 billion for the AGILE education-health hybrid program.
Recent legislative actions further prioritize nutrition, with plans to introduce dedicated budget lines and a Child Nutrition Fund to address rising malnutrition cases. Governor Mohammed’s administration has emphasized healthcare as a cornerstone of its “My Bauchi Projects” blueprint, aiming to ensure universal access to quality primary care
