IWO, Osun State — A 200-level Computer Science student of Bowen University, Iwo, has tragically lost his life after being stabbed by suspected armed robbers at about 11:00 p.m. on January 22, 2025. The Osun State Police Command confirmed that detectives are investigating the fatal attack.
The victim, identified as Paul Thinker, was reportedly returning to campus when assailants ambushed him. “On 22/01/2025 at about 10:55 pm, one Akindoyo Joseph CSO Bowen University, Iwo, came to Iwo Police Divisional Headquarters… and reported that one Paul Thinker, a 200 level Computer Science student was stabbed by unknown person(s),” stated police spokesperson Yemisi Opalola.
Emergency responders rushed Paul to a local hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries. The attackers fled the scene and remain at large. Authorities are yet to confirm if any items were stolen.
Osun State police have deployed detectives to determine the identities of the assailants, recover the weapon used, and establish the full sequence of events leading to the tragedy .
The university community is deeply shocked. Students expressed fear and appealed for improved security measures on and around campus. The police have urged anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
