Brawl Erupts in Pistons-Timberwolves Game, 7 Ejected

A intense brawl broke out during the Minnesota Timberwolves’ 123-104 win over the Detroit Pistons on Sunday, resulting in the ejection of 7 individuals, including 5 players and 2 coaches.

The altercation occurred early in the second quarter when Minnesota’s Naz Reid took exception to being bumped by Detroit’s Ron Holland. The situation quickly escalated, with players from both teams getting involved and the melee spilling into the courtside seats.

After the fight was broken up, tensions remained high, with players continuing to exchange verbal jabs. Officials ultimately ejected Isaiah Stewart, Holland, and Marcus Sasser from Detroit, and Reid and Donte DiVincenzo from Minnesota. Detroit head coach John-Blair Bickerstaff and Timberwolves assistant coach Pablo Prigioni were also ejected.

Bickerstaff accused Prigioni of triggering the incident by insulting his players, while Minnesota head coach Chris Finch suggested that Detroit’s physical approach early in the game had contributed to the flashpoint.

The incident marred an otherwise dominant performance by the Timberwolves, who secured a comfortable 19-point victory over the Pistons.
