BREAKING: Rivers Police Fire Tear Gas to Disperse Take-It-Back Protesters

The #Take-It-Back protest in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, turned tense on Monday when officers from the Rivers State Police Command deployed tear gas in an attempt to disperse the demonstrators.

The protesters, comprising supporters of the Take It Back Movement, Civil Society Organizations, and the Niger Delta Congress, had gathered at Isaac Boro Park in Port Harcourt. However, their peaceful demonstration was met with resistance from the police, who instructed them to vacate the area and relocate to another venue.

Undeterred, the protesters continued with their rally, singing solidarity songs and marching within the park before proceeding outside towards the Aba Express Road. As they approached the CFC Junction, they were once again intercepted by a large contingent of anti-riot police, who repeated the order for the protesters to vacate the street.

Despite the police directive, the demonstrators remained steadfast, prompting the police to fire tear gas canisters, which caused the protesters to scatter in different directions, seeking safety.

Further details on the incident will be provided as they unfold.
