On the opening day of their two-day summit in Brazil, leaders of the BRICS nations issued a strong call for an unconditional ceasefire in Gaza, urging all parties to halt hostilities immediately to prevent further loss of civilian lives. The bloc also condemned recent military strikes targeting Iran, describing them as destabilizing actions that threaten regional and global peace.

In addition, the BRICS leaders collectively criticized former US President Donald Trump’s tariff threats, warning that such protectionist measures could disrupt international trade and hinder global economic recovery. The statements reflect the group’s commitment to fostering multilateral cooperation and promoting stability amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.

The summit, held against the backdrop of escalating conflicts and economic uncertainties, has become a platform for the BRICS nations to assert their shared vision for peace, security, and equitable growth, calling on the international community to support diplomatic solutions and respect sovereign rights.
