The Government of Cameroon and the World Trade Organisation (WTO) have formalised their collaboration ahead of the 14th Ministerial Conference (MC14), with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to guide joint efforts towards a successful hosting of the global trade event.
The agreement was signed during an inter-ministerial committee meeting presided over by the Prime Minister and Head of Government, H.E. Joseph Dion Ngute. The meeting brought together key government stakeholders to assess the country’s preparedness for MC14, scheduled to take place in 2026.
Cameroon’s Minister of Commerce, H.E. Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, and a WTO official signed the MoU, which outlines the framework for cooperation, logistics, and resource mobilisation between the international trade body and the Cameroonian government.
During the session, Prime Minister Dion Ngute reviewed the level of progress made in readiness for the high-profile conference, highlighting areas that still require attention. He urged all relevant ministries and agencies to fast-track outstanding tasks and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to delivering a world-class event.
The WTO delegation commended Cameroon’s proactive approach and reiterated the importance of Africa’s voice in shaping global trade policies. The upcoming MC14 is expected to draw ministers, trade experts, and global economic stakeholders from around the world, making it one of the most significant international events to be hosted by Cameroon.
Officials at the meeting described the discussions as productive, paving the way for seamless coordination in the months leading to the conference.
