CAS Reaffirms Commitment to Civilian Protection During Strategic Visit to Operation FANSAN YAMMA

Katsina, Nigeria – June 14, 2025

The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, has reiterated the Nigerian Air Force’s unwavering commitment to the protection of civilian lives and property during a strategic visit to troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA in Katsina State.

Speaking during the high-level engagement with personnel deployed in the operation, Air Marshal Abubakar commended their courage and professionalism in tackling banditry and other criminal elements in the North-West region.

“The Nigerian Air Force remains fully committed to international humanitarian laws and rules of engagement. Protecting civilians and minimizing collateral damage are top priorities in all our operations,” he said.

The CAS also conducted an operational assessment and interacted with field commanders to evaluate ongoing air and ground synergy in flushing out terrorists and restoring peace to affected communities.

In his remarks, the Air Officer Commanding Special Operations Command, Air Vice Marshal Emeka Okoye, briefed the CAS on recent successes recorded in the region, including precision airstrikes on criminal hideouts and improved civil-military relations.

Air Marshal Abubakar also used the opportunity to boost the morale of the troops, assuring them of continued support in logistics, welfare, and intelligence-sharing.

The visit comes as part of efforts to strengthen military readiness and operational effectiveness in Nigeria’s internal security operations.
