CAS Salutes 45 Years of AFMS Excellence, Unveils New Education Drive at Joint Passing Out Parade

Jos, July 27, 2025 — The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has commended the Air Force Military School (AFMS), Jos, for its enduring legacy of excellence in discipline, academics, and military training, as the school marked 45 years of service to the nation.

Speaking during the Joint Passing Out Parade of AFMS and Air Force Girls Military School (AFGMS) cadets held at the school parade ground in Jos, Plateau State, Air Marshal Abubakar applauded the graduates for upholding the high standards the institution is known for, while reaffirming the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) commitment to building intellectual and ethical leaders.

The CAS also unveiled a new educational initiative aimed at deepening academic capacity and technological innovation within NAF schools nationwide. He noted that the new drive would enhance digital literacy, promote STEM education, and align the academic curriculum with national development priorities and global best practices.

Air Marshal Abubakar charged the graduating students to be worthy ambassadors of the NAF, urging them to apply their training in service to the country and to uphold the values of integrity, excellence, and patriotism instilled in them.

Established in 1980, AFMS has produced thousands of graduates who have gone on to serve in various leadership capacities in the military and civil society. This year’s passing out parade drew top military brass, education stakeholders, parents, and dignitaries who celebrated the discipline, resilience, and achievements of the cadets.

The event also featured ceremonial drills, academic awards, and cultural displays, reflecting the all-round development approach adopted by the NAF in shaping the future of its cadets.
