CDCFIB Cautions Applicants, Confirms Shortlisting Process Yet to Commence Amid Rising Scam Alerts

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has clarified that the shortlisting of applicants for its ongoing recruitment exercise has not yet commenced, urging members of the public—particularly applicants—to disregard any contrary information circulating online. The board also issued a stern warning against falling prey to fraudsters posing as officials or agents promising job placements for a fee.

In an official statement released through its verified communication channels, CDCFIB noted with concern the increasing spread of fake messages on social media platforms claiming that shortlisted candidates for various positions have been published. The board emphasised that no such list has been released and that any credible update on the recruitment process will only be made available through its official website and recognised media outlets.

The warning comes in response to several complaints from unsuspecting applicants who have reportedly received messages from dubious sources requesting payment in exchange for inclusion in the shortlist or job assurance. The board reiterated that its recruitment process is free, transparent, and strictly based on merit, adding that no individual or group has been authorised to collect money or offer employment on behalf of the CDCFIB or any of the agencies under its jurisdiction.

Applicants have been advised to remain patient and vigilant while awaiting authentic updates from the board. CDCFIB also encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities or individuals attempting to exploit the recruitment exercise to appropriate law enforcement authorities.

As one of the federal government’s major recruitment platforms for paramilitary agencies such as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Federal Fire Service (FFS), and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the CDCFIB restated its commitment to fairness, due process, and accountability throughout the selection process.

With thousands of applicants hoping to secure positions in the various services, the board’s message serves as a critical reminder of the need for vigilance in the face of growing digital fraud targeting job seekers across the country.
