Customs, ICPC Join Forces to Curb Corruption Through Staff Sensitization

August 23, 2025

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), in partnership with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), has intensified its anti-corruption campaign with the launch of a sensitization programme for its management staff.

The initiative, held as part of the Service’s ongoing reforms, was designed to deepen awareness among senior officers on the dangers of corrupt practices and to strengthen ethical conduct in the discharge of official duties.

Speaking at the programme, representatives of both agencies emphasized that corruption undermines national development, weakens public institutions, and erodes citizens’ trust in government operations. The training, therefore, aims to reinforce integrity and accountability among Customs officers, particularly those in leadership roles.

The collaboration is also expected to enhance inter-agency synergy in tackling corrupt practices within revenue-generating institutions while ensuring compliance with transparency and anti-graft laws.

The Nigeria Customs Service reaffirmed its commitment to building a culture of professionalism and service excellence, stressing that the sensitization programme is part of broader measures to restore public confidence and block revenue leakages.
