CG Adeniyi Applauds Ogun II Command for Optimising 40% Revenue Increase

Abeokuta, Nigeria – June 14, 2025

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, has commended the Ogun II Area Command for achieving a significant 40% increase in revenue generation, describing the feat as a testament to effective leadership, innovation, and operational diligence.

Speaking during an official visit to the command headquarters in Abeokuta, CG Adeniyi praised the Area Controller and personnel for their commitment to the Service’s mandate and national economic development.

“This outstanding revenue performance reflects not only the professionalism and vigilance of the Ogun II Command but also their commitment to blocking leakages and ensuring that government revenue is safeguarded,” he said.

According to figures released by the command, the increase represents a jump from the N3.5 billion recorded in the same period last year to N4.9 billion in the first five months of 2025. The boost is attributed to improved compliance enforcement, stakeholder engagement, and deployment of technology to monitor cargo movements and detect under-declarations.

The Area Controller, Comptroller Bisi Alade, noted that the command’s strategy focused on enhanced intelligence gathering, trader sensitization, and seamless coordination with sister agencies.

CG Adeniyi encouraged the command to sustain the momentum while also maintaining cordial relations with border communities and stakeholders to enhance voluntary compliance.

He reiterated the Customs Service’s resolve to support commands across the country through capacity-building initiatives and deployment of modern tools to aid efficiency and transparency.

The Ogun II Command, which oversees key border routes in the southwestern corridor, has played a crucial role in anti-smuggling efforts and revenue mobilization for national development.
