Chelsea FC Faces 74 FA Charges Over Agent Regulations

London | September 11, 2025

The Football Association (FA) has charged Chelsea Football Club with 74 breaches of regulations related to payments to agents, intermediaries, and third-party investments in players.

The alleged violations span from 2009 to 2022, with the majority occurring during the 2010–2016 seasons under former owner Roman Abramovich. Chelsea’s current ownership, led by American investor Todd Boehly and private equity firm Clearlake Capital, acquired the club in May 2022 and reportedly self-reported the breaches during due diligence.

Chelsea has confirmed it will cooperate fully with the FA and has until September 19, 2025, to respond to the charges. The FA has not yet indicated what penalties, if any, may be imposed.
